The Utility Shirt Dress

This week I’m starting the blog off with a workwear basic… the utility shirt dress. Only a few months ago I wrote a post about the utility shirt dress with a long sleeve and in a beige color. Today I’m styling this short sleeve version of that same dress only in this super chic black.

This dress looks polished, yet is very comfortable. The material isn’t too heavy, but is structured enough so that it hangs nicely. It comes with a simple tie belt that I am wearing in all the photos. The dress has functional buttons all the way down the front, and is an A-line style.

This dress ran a little oversized. I am wearing my normal size small here, but feel like an xsmall would have fit better.

Adding accessories to your outfit will always level up the look. Here I have used some simple silver pieces I already had in my closet. I found the exact bracelets and linked them, but I’m linking a similar layered necklace.

Also, it’s fun to add a pop of color with your bag, so don’t be afraid to play around with different styles or colors. I added a small black quilted clutch that I picked up in February, but it’s no longer available.

The Blazer

You all know how much I love to add a blazer to just about any outfit. This double breasted white linen blazer is perfection with this outfit. It takes this polished look up even one more level, if that’s possible.

This blazer runs slightly oversized. I am wearing my regular size small here. Even though it’s a little large, I find it’s easier to layer other pieces underneath with a little extra room! No one wants their jacket to be too snug! This blazer is fully lined.
