Transition Into Spring with this Classic Shirtdress

Hey friends, and happy Friday! Today is all about that time between seasons when it’s so hard to decide what to wear. The transition into spring with this classic shirtdress is can be simple and polished. And no matter what the weather is, you can still be comfortable and trendy.

I’m obsessed with this utility shirtdress from Banana Republic Factory. It is fully lined, and made of a medium weight material that hangs nicely. It has flap pockets on the front, a pleated back, a tie belt, and a slightly dropped shoulder keeping the look on a less formal side. (I switched out the tie belt with this black belt that I had in my closet for a more structured style.). I’d say it runs true to size.

Also, I’m wearing these strappy sandals for the pictures, but I had planned a suede black pump. However, I had just gotten a pedicure, so opted to just go with the sandals so as to not mess up my pedi! And if you’ve been following me very long you’ll recognize the sandals because I wear them all year round. They run true to size, and are worth every penny! ( I have them in nude and black!)

Just add a blazer

A second way to transition into spring with this classic shirtdress is to add a black or navy blazer. I love a structured blazer because it can be worn from fall to early spring depending on the climate. However, even though I live in a warmer region of the country, I like to have a second layer handy for when the a/c is blasting in office buildings or the grocery store!

Even though I opted for this structured blazer doesn’t mean it’s your only option, there are so many other great options, like a sweater blazer, an oversized cardigan sweater, a leather jacket, or pretty much any other jacket that’s in your closet.

Don’t forget the accessories

Finally, one of my favorite ways to add the finishing touches to the outfit is to add some bold accessories. Everytime I wear this gold link necklace, bracelet, and earrings someone always compliments me on them. I actually wear them often, and I’ve wear them year round! Whenever I want to feel a little fancy, I reach for a touch of gold.

Also, I’ve had this Kate Spade bag for years. Everytime I think I might give it away, I decide to style it with another outfit. I love the feminine details of it and that it’s oversized, giving it that wow factor.

As the finishing touch, pick up some oversized sunglasses. I’m always impressed Peeper’s sunnies because they are so well made, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, are polarized, and can be readers if needed. These tortoise shell sunglasses add texture and interest to the outfit.

All of the accessories here are older, and unavailable, so I’m linking some similar options.

Of course, it’s almost time for Valentine’s day! Head on over to 3 Pink Dresses that can be worn for V-day or spring in general! Also, I’ve created tons of gift guides for those last minute gift ideas!
