Late Summer to Early Fall Outfit Ideas

Hey friends, today I’m bringing you some easy late summer into early fall outfit ideas. This late summer season is a really tricky time of the year, depending on where you live. For me, I live in a hot, and humid climate 9 months of the year. It will not truly cool off until after Halloween.(hopefully) Which means, even though the calendar says the temps should be cooler, that’s not always the case.

Also, I want to introduce you to a brand I am loving! Mott and Bow gifted me these white and dark denim, as well as all four basic t-shirts I used in each of these looks! If you aren’t familiar with this brand, their denim and tees are fabulous.

I’ve started with an easy denim and tee combo for all four of the outfits today! Styling to fit the season doesn’t have to be difficult, simply start with a good pair of jeans and the perfect tee.

I may earn a commission from links on this post, but I only recommend products and brands that I LOVE. Promise.

So, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to help make this late-summer season a little easier.

Tip #1: Use what you have in your closet!

To create your late summer to early fall outfit begin with the base layer. In this case all white!

White denim is a closet basic. Depending on the style, you can wear white denim year round. This pair from Mott and Bow are a classic mid-rise, straight leg denim. It is the ‘Slim Boyfriend’ in Mercer. They are ankle length, and are the perfect style for this time of year. Also, this super soft short sleeve white t-shirt is a must-have in every wardrobe. Both the pieces run true to size. I am wearing my normal size in the denim, and I sized up to a medium in the t-shirt for a roomier fit.

I kept the base layer all white with the denim and tee, but added a linen oatmeal colored blazer, animal print heels, and an oversized bag for a polished look. From work, to dinner out, this look is so easy to pull together with a few simple pieces from your closet.

Of course, you could add any color blazer, tweed jacket, or even a fun leather jacket depending on the weather. Remember, shopping your closet can be a time-saver and definite money-saver!

However, if you’re looking to add, replace or refresh your wardrobe, I’ve linked some fabulous options above.

Tip #2: Layer up the outfit.

Again, to create your late summer to early fall outfit begin with the base layer. In this case all white!

I’ve kept the white denim (the same exact pair shown in the first look) and added a v-neck white t-shirt this time. I love the casual feel of a v-neck. This tee is also from Mott and Bow. It too is uber soft, and I’m wearing a medium in it.

Another wardrobe staple for me is a long cardigan. The olive colored, ribbed cardigan adds texture to this outfit, as well as the platform criss-cross sandals and the fun bag. (Olive is such a trendy color right now!)

Do you have a long pendant necklace just sitting in your drawer? Pull it out for this look! I love the way a longer necklace adds texture and interest to an everyday outfit!

Tip #3: Grab a darker shade of denim.

Next, to create your late summer to early fall outfit begin with the base layer, but we’re changing it up just a tad. In this case, use a medium or darker denim and a classic white tee.

Ok, for this look, I’ve moved from the classic white denim to a medium/dark shade of denim. In fact they have a nice vintage, worn in look to them. These high-waisted, straight leg jeans are also from Mott and Bow. They sit right at the ankle, and have just the right amount of stretch to them! No matter if you grab the white or blue, it’s super easy to style them for a casual or dressy occasion.

Also, if you haven’t tried the boxy top trend, right now’s the time! This is a slightly cropped, white crewneck tee. I love the look of a boxy tee half tucked. It gives a little bit of definition to the waistline, but also a little coverage for the rest of the look.

Then grab a fun, flowy kimono, long pendant necklace, strappy heels, and favorite bag. And just like that, you have an outfit is pulled together, and current.

Tip #4: Sneakers are a year-round trend!

Finally, to create that everyday casual late summer to early fall outfit, stick with that same darker denim. Then, simply slip on a long sleeve white tee.

A fun fact about me is that I carry a jacket with me no matter what season it is. It seems to always be so chilly inside the grocery store, restaurant, or dentist office! So, this utility jacket is a must-have in my closet. I picked this one up a few years ago at Target, but I’ve linked a few others here for you.

The long sleeve crewneck tee is a closet staple as well. It is easily layered under so many things, or worn on it’s own. Push the sleeves up, if you’re getting down to business. This long sleeve from Mott and Bow is lightweight and super soft. I’m wearing a medium, for reference. It’s not too big or small.

Also, these are the same denim as outfit number 3. They are a ‘The Mom Jean’ in Ridge. I love the straight leg that stop just at the ankle. They will be perfect with an ankle boot a little later in the season for me.

Did you know that EVERY season is sneaker season? And the sneaker trend is so HOT right now. Literally there are hundreds of style and colors to pick from. Something out there for EVERYONE. I am linking this black slip-on sneaker that I have in two colors, I love it so much. However, I’m also linking some other sneaker options incase your in the market for a new pair.

Bonus Tip: The skinny jean isn’t dead…yet!

I’m linking some other pieces from Mott and Bow above. They just have so many things I wanted to included, but time and space are limited. However, you don’t want to miss their skinny jean selection. I’ve only linked a few of my faves here. Pop on over to Mott and Bow to check out all their goodness!

I most certainly will be wearing skinny jeans in the fall and winter seasons. Just in case you’re wondering!
