The BEST Mascara for Women Over 50

Hey friends! Today I’m talking about the BEST mascara for women over 50. Also, I have joined forces with some of my blogger friends who are also sharing their favorite beauty secrets! Scroll to the bottom of this post to find their links and check them out!

Let’s just say I’ve tried a lot of mascaras in my time, and as I’ve gotten older, my criteria has changed for what I deem great quality and performance.

Currently, my natural lashes are short, light in color, and I would venture to say there are less of them than there used to be. (Darn hormones!) So, my main criteria for a mascara would be that it adds length, volume, doesn’t clump, and stays put for more than 8 hours. Also, I don’t want to scrub to get it off my eyes! (I’ll share a couple of makeup removers I love a at the end of this post.)

I know. I’m asking for EVERYTHING when it comes to my mascara. That’s true, but a girl can dream, right?

I’m linking a few cute and useful makeup bags below. If you are looking for the one pictured, click here .

Let me introduce to you my top 3 favorite mascaras, and the ULTIMATE lash primer I’ve been using for 10+ years!

The BEST mascara: Lancome Cils Booster XL lash primer

Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused Lash Thickening Mascara Primer

We are talking about the BEST mascara, but this primer can’t be beat! Y’all. I’m not kidding when I say I’ve been using this primer for a decade! It’s simply that good. I haven’t used one that comes close to the quality, and performance of this lash primer. As I age, my eyelashes seem to be getting thinner and shorter. (Is that even a thing???). So, I turned to using a lash primer to fill in those gaps that mother nature has left behind. Lancome Cils Booster XL adds volume, length and isn’t clumpy. EVER.

I typically apply one to two coats of this lash primer prior to my mascara of choice for the day. The difference is instantly visible. The only time I don’t use the lash primer is when I head out to the gym, or if I’m going with a totally natural- no makeup look for the day. Otherwise, I’m all in!

The BEST mascara: Tarte’s Surfer Curl

Okay. The first ‘BEST’ mascara is relatively new to me. I’ve only been using it for a few months now, but I’m a believer already! It says it has a volumizing and curling formula, however I love the length is provides! Also, Tarte doesn’t use any of the ‘bad stuff’ in their products!

It is priced nicely, and it can typically be found on sale! See the little set that offers a full-sized mascara I’ve linked above! 5 stars to this mascara!

The BEST mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex

The next BEST mascara is one of my favorites because it does EVERYTHING! (None of these mascaras are in any particular order. I love them all the same, and find myself coming back to them over and over again!). It lengthens, adds volume, isn’t clumpy and lasts all day. This particular brand is another cult favorite, and once you use it, you’ll quickly see why.

I have used this particular brand for several years now. I buy it regularly and use it a lot of times to layer in with other formulas. However, it does the trick all by itself! Again, I’d give this one 5 stars!

The BEST mascara: Lancome Hypnose Drama

Finally, the last pick for BEST mascara goes to the brand I’ve used the longest. Lancome is known for their superior mascara formulas so it’s no surprise this one’s a winner. It lengthens, add volume, and no smudging or flaking at the end of the day.

Presently, I have all three of these mascaras in my makeup bag. I alternate using one for a month, then when it’s empty or dries up, I move on to the next one. Also, many days I will start using one brand, then to add more length, I’ll apply a few coats of another one of these formulas. (I have a mascara obsession y’all. I know this!)

Also, I do have a couple of favorite eye makeup removers that are tried and true. Both work like magic when it comes to getting every bit of mascara and eye makeup off. The Simply Kind brand is also a ‘clean beauty’ product and comes in a wipe or liquid. The Lancome brand remover is a little pricey, and it is my favorite name brand.

I might need to start using a lash primer!! I tried one years ago…. I’m talking maybe 10-15 years… I didn’t like it, but I’m sure they have gotten better! Thanks for sharing that little tip, Cindy!
