The October Edit: 2024

The October Edit is full of this season’s trends, but NOT trendy pieces! For example, the deep auburn sweater dress, the classic black trousers in a wide-leg style, and the traditional trench coat with a little twist!

Have you seen all of the animal print in stores and online??? It’s everywhere currently! From shoes to bags, dresses, pants, and outerwear… It is taking center stage right now. However, I know it’s not for everyone. So, you might consider adding one simple item to your outfit. Perhaps a small handbag, maybe a sleek calf hair loafer, or even something as subtle as tortoiseshell earrings or a bracelet. It’s amazing how one “pop” of pattern can instantly elevate and update an outfit!

Also, I’m totally smitten with all the deeper shades this fall! The deep reds, greens, browns, and navy blue have stolen my heart! Don’t miss the deep auburn sweater dress in today’s post! It is a piece that will serve you well this season through winter.

This is my first post since my husband and I returned from our vacation from the Greek islands. It was the “trip of a lifetime”! The entire trip was amazing, and I hope to get a blog post with details up within the month. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email, or comment below in this post.

Happy October, friends! I hope you love this month’s fashion favorites!

Fit-N-Flare Sweater Dress

Sweater Dress || Black Tote || T-Strap Heels (similar linked)

Immediately this deep red sweater dress caught my attention. The fit-n-flare silhouette is such a feminine style, and looks good on EVERYONE! Furthermore, this style dress is easy to style. Simply add a blazer, trench coat, and accessories and you’re ready to go. I love a “one-and-done” outfit for those busy mornings.

Sizing: This sweater dress runs true to size. It comes with a detachable belt.

This shade of red and taupe are a match made in heaven! Consider adding a tall suede or leather boot to your outfit as the weather gets cooler! (Boots linked here in the shade Truffle Suede. They come in a wide calf version as well!)

Animal Print Sweater & Black Trousers

Next is this short-sleeve animal print cardigan with gold button details. The short-sleeve option is fun since you can layer it over a long-sleeve button-up shirt later in the season. Of course when it’s coat season, then simply add a long wool coat or car coat over the look!

Also, if you don’t already have a good pair of work trousers, you will want to consider these! They are from Spanx, and they are stretchy and a wide-leg silhouette. I love Spanx since they have extended sizing and you can count on the quality! You’ll have these pants for several years. They are just that good.

Sizing: The cardigan sweater runs snug in the arms and it is cropped. Size up one to add a little length in the bodice and room in the sleeves. The black pants run true to size. Make sure to check the size chart online at Spanx. It runs a little different than some popular brands. A 6/8 is a medium in this brand.

Animal Print Skirt & Sweater

Animal Print Skirt || Grey Sweater || White Crewneck Tee || Small Red Tote || Nude Heels (similar linked)

So, this isn’t my typical style. However, I love the classic animal print skirt with the casual oversized sweater and the tee peeking out at the neck and hem of the sweater. The edgy vibe and the traditional vibe. So. Fun. That being said, there are so many ways to style this skirt this season. Make sure you are following me on a social media platform to see some great styling inspiration.

Sizing: The animal print skirt runs snug. Size up one size. I sized up in the crewneck sweater and white crewneck tee for a relaxed look.

Cropped Trench Coat & Relaxed Denim

Cropped Trench Coat || Striped Long Sleeve Top || Straight Leg Denim || Black Ankle Boots

Lastly, the French-inspired look of the day goes to this cropped trench coat and striped long-sleeve tee situation. This season the trench coat is in the spotlight, but with a little modern flare! It is cropped, and there are so many versions of this style it might be difficult to pick one. I went with this minimal silhouette. It still has the double-breasted detailing and buttons at the cuffs and shoulders, but that’s about it. No front flaps, vent in the back, or belt with this one. It adds just enough visual interest to an outfit.

Furthermore, don’t miss the wide-leg denim, my favorite black leather boots, and large tote bag from one of my favorite designers!

Again, I’ll be styling this trench coat many ways this season, so I hope you will be following along over on my socials!

Sizing: The trench coat has a roomy fit. Runs true to size. The denim has a relaxed fit, but size up since they are snug at the waist. Boots run slightly small. Size up a half size if between sizes.
