3 Big Fall Fashion Trends 2024

I’m a day late getting this post up… But I want to get these 3 big fall fashion trends up on the blog as soon as possible.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about fashion trends we’d be seeing all fall and they’ve already hit the stores. One is the color green. In particular, olive green. Next is the deeper shades of red like burgundy and merlot. Then finally, is the resurgence of menswear styles. Think oversized suits, blazers styled with denim, baggy trousers, wide flowy pants, and the list continues.

So, for the September capsule, I’ve pulled together a version of this season’s trends. I wanted stylish pieces that were a little more polished, and not so slouchy. However, they can all be paired back for a less formal feeling.

Hopefully, I will be able to get these pieces re-styled in some different ways, so that you’ll be able to see how versatile they are! Also, by simply adding a third piece to the look, you will be able to wear them through cooler temps.

All of the opinions expressed here are mine. Affiliate links may generate a small commission if you click and choose to buy. This won’t cost you anything, but allows me the opportunity to share content like this with you regularly! Thank you for your support!

Chiffon Maxi Dress

Chiffon Maxi Dress || Nude Bag (similar) || Nude Slingback Pumps (similar)

First is this gorgeous pleated fit and flare maxi dress. It is flowy, and has a detachable slip underneath. With a faux wrap top and tie waistband, it is simply lovely. Then add a blazer and ankle boot or tall boot when the weather turns cooler. You will be ready for any event this fall with just ONE dress.

Sizing: Dress runs large. Size down one.

Workwear Inspired

Pinstripe Wide Leg Trousers || Crew Sweater Tee || Viral Bag || Taupe Loafers (similar)

Next is this cute little duo. This season is all about “menswear” inspired styles. These wide-leg trousers have the traditional trouser hook and eye closure with a pleat on each side. Truthfully, they are some of the most comfortable pants I own. Then I paired the pants with this cotton short-sleeve crewneck sweater tee which is another trend we’re seeing everywhere this fall. It is stretchy and breathable, and easy to throw a blazer or coat over later in the season. Both pieces come in multiple colors.

Sizing: Trousers run true to size and have a little bit of stretch. The sweater has a fitted silhouette and is slightly cropped. Size up one for a roomier fit, or if you are long-waisted like me!

Merlot Shirt Dress

Merlot Shirt Dress || Tall Suede Boots || Mini Satchel

Thirdly, this shirt dress in “plum rose” or merlot is trending for fall. This dress is a lovely poplin fabric that hangs just right, and don’t miss the pockets! The great thing about this color and style is that it can be worn with ballet flats, loafers, ankle boots, or even sneakers. I love the suede taupe tall boots paired with the merlot here. It’s simply so chic.

Sizing: The dress runs true to size. However, it is very roomy if worn without the removable tie.

Taupe Handbags

Top bag: Small Satchel || Viral Small Tote

Also, this month I wanted to include some affordable accessories in the capsule. Both of these bags are under $100. The satchel is actually under $30! Both styles are a great option for everyday wear or workwear. The “viral” small tote is all over social media. In the description of the bag it says it is “leather” but I’m not really sure about that. (hmmmm) However, both are from Amazon, so I’m never really sure about the facts with them. (ha!). None-the-less I can recommend both of these handbags if looking for something in the “less than $100” price range.

**NOTE** Taupe is a color that you can wear all fall and winter!

Chunky Gold Chain & Tube Hoops

Chunky Gold Chain Necklace || Gold Tube Hoop Earrings

Next, are these chunky gold earrings and necklace. I’ve had these pieces for several years now and I wear them year round. Of course, the “chunky” style of jewelry is currently trending, but even if it wasn’t this style is always chic. I love to layer my necklace underneath the collar of a dress or shirt and let it peek out. Then add the simple, sleek gold hoops to tie it all together. Perfection.

Fall Neutrals

Top: Gold and Neutral Hoops || Bottom: Curved Button Earrings

Finally, are these neutral button style and hoop earrings. Whenever I find earrings that are white or white-ish I try to pick them up. In my opinion, the “white” stone/gem/material brightens up my face. That’s a win for me! I love the gold paired with both of these styles, too.

**NOTE** Before purchasing earrings, make sure they aren’t too heavy for your earlobes. If an earring is too heavy it can cause damage to the earlobes, and also create lines/wrinkles on that delicate skin.
