February Closet Refresh: from Loft

It’s mid-month, so I thought I’d bring you a February closet refresh. The days may feel long and dreary, but that doesn’t mean our outfits must reflect that mood! So, I’ve chosen a fun, preppy striped sweater, a pretty pink blouse, and a denim look to mix things up.

The Preppy Look

First, let’s talk about this green and navy open-weave sweater. I couldn’t tell the weave was so loose online, but you can see through to the shirt underneath. If that bothers you, stir clear of this sweater. Or replace the white button-up with a nude camisole or t-shirt. Whatever you decide, green is trending big time again this spring. I predict it will be even more prevalent than it was last year! So, even though it’s not my favorite color, I can get on board with the trend when paired with navy and white.

Also, these utility jeans are very comfortable. They are slim and straight-cut and have a seam that runs down the front of the leg, giving the illusion of a slim silhouette. (always a winner in my book) This particular style hits right above my ankle, leaving some space to see the tops of my feet and shoes. (also elongating the leg). The one thing I don’t love about this denim is that they are a button-up style. This closure type tends to add bulk at the mid-section, which isn’t always the best look. However, these don’t seem to buckle out like some denim does.

The Pretty in Pink Look

Next is this lovely pink paisley blouse. It has buttons at the neck and elastic at the cuff. The lightweight fabric can be tucked into your pants or untucked for a casual style. I’ve added a cardigan over my shoulders for a little visual interest and that beloved “third piece” rule.

Also, this woven bag is out of stock. However, I’ve linked a similar bag. It is from my favorite handbag designer right now. Melie Bianco has lots of fun, trendy styles, and they are made with vegan recycled leather that is eco-friendly. I have several of her bags, which are well-made and affordable!

The All Denim Look

Finally, the denim trend is another trend you’ll see more of in 2024. The designers are styling denim from head to toe, which can be overwhelming. I’ve added an oversized striped sweater around my shoulders to add texture and visual interest to the look. Also, I’ve paired the denim with a matching taupe woven bag and suede loafers. Again, this gives a little interest to the outfit.
