4 Easy Spring Cleaning Tips

Happy April, everyone! I hope you’re checking off all your 2021 goals because spring is finally here, which means that a lot of you have a goal of tackling some spring cleaning. And I am bringing you 4 easy spring cleaning tips to help ease you into this process! Now is the time to be preparing your mind for this seasonal tradition. Thinking of the task can be overwhelming, especially if you’re planning to clean multiple locations such as a home you are selling (I know the housing market is off the wall right now!), the home you are buying, and an office (if applicable). Now, I know that multiple locations does not fit everyone, but even one location is a huge undertaking and I am sure that you are pretty stressed.

But hold on, don’t worry. This list will help you go into the spring cleaning process feeling ready. You may have a system from last year, and that’s great, but incorporate these steps into your prep and I promise you’ll save more time (which is hard to come by nowadays). Here are steps for tackling your home spring cleaning without the stress:

Start decluttering now

The first spring cleaning tip is start decluttering now! When it comes to cleaning and decluttering, there are two separate concepts, which I think we sometimes confuse.  Cleaning is all about wiping surfaces, cleaning out cobwebs, and doing routine to-do’s like dishes and laundry and mopping the floors. Decluttering, on the other hand, is organizing, separating, and getting rid of the stuff you do not use or need anymore.

It’s important to know, you don’t have to throw away all of your possessions you’ve worked hard for. I understand, you want to keep the things you’ve spent your hard earned money on. However, you cannot keep everything that you have ever purchased! Go to the store and buy some boxes. You can stack these boxes in a closet or attic and label them for easier access. You can make four different piles for sorting: keep, maybe, donate, and trash. If you find something with dust buildup on it, you should know without a doubt it needs to go into the donation or trash pile. You want to move through the process of decluttering without too much thought, or it’ll take a toll on your mental health.

Check off your to-do list

Another great spring cleaning tip is create a list! This list can be one, long sheet of paper with notes written down, or you can write a more detailed list. For me, I typically draw up a chart and list a room in each square. Then go room by room, and write down what needs to be cleaned. It’s best to actually go to each room and look around, instead of jotting things down off the top of your head because remember, this is spring (deep) cleaning. Ultimately, listing each room makes it easier for me to come up with my strategy on how I’ll tackle the house. For example, some rooms will not have as many tasks as others. Now, I’ll know for those rooms how much time needs to be allotted to each task and pick the appropriate day/week based on my current routines.

Set realistic goals

Also, this spring cleaning tip may be the most important! I know we all go into spring cleaning thinking we can knock it out in a week or two, but we have to remember, life happens. We are mothers or wives or employees (or maybe all of the above) and that requires attention from us. We are business professionals with lives. We are mothers who have to meet the unpredictable needs of our children, so sometimes we just don’t have the time. We are friends who need to hug our loved ones close, when they are struggling. Sometimes, this takes away from the things that we need to be doing in our homes, but this is okay! Now that you have your list and know what needs to be done, you can set realistic goals. Make it your goal to tackle one room every two days. Make it your goal to clean one big object such as the refrigerator. Any task you can mark off your list, is an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Start from scratch

My final spring cleaning tip is start from scratch. Like I mentioned above, the housing market is BOOMING right now. It is a fantastic time to sell and so many of you are doing just that. If you are working on buying a home, selling a home, moving to a new home, cleaning both homes, etc. etc. etc. take a deep breath. Starting from scratch in a new home is an amazing way to deep clean and spring clean! Plus, it will be easier to do…but it is time consuming and stressful. Also, if you want to reduce some of the time and stress, hire tasks out. Hire a decorator, a real estate agent, a babysitter, or a moving company.

Yes! Moving & Storage are Dallas piano movers, but they also do so much more than just piano moving. They can help with delivery services (maybe you need a fridge or a huge couch delivered to your home, or maybe you are selling a couch, but do not have a way to move it), residential moving services, commercial moving services, packing services, senior moving services, labor-only moving services, and a ton of other services, as well. It sets my mind at ease that they are one of the most trusted companies in Lewisville, TX and Dallas-Fort Worth. Plus all of the surrounding areas, as well. They have years of experience and they go the distance for their customers. They strive to make your move as smooth as possible, no matter what service you choose. In addition, they treat your home and your possessions like they treat you- with care and respect! “When moving your belongings, we work towards being on time, efficient, quiet, and professional. As guests in your home, we promise to treat it like our own! Moving your personal belongings may seem scary, but when left in our hands everything will arrive in the same condition you left it in. Your concern should not be whether or not your belongings will arrive safe, but instead where will you place them in your new home,” they say. If you are currently one of the many people moving now, call Yes! Moving & Storage. You will be so happy that you did!

You’ve got this spring cleaning thing – I know you can do it! No matter if you are starting from scratch when moving into a new home, cleaning out your currently home, or selling items (and having Yes! Moving & Storage transporting them for you), follow these steps + do some more research and it will be a cake walk.
