The Best Workout Clothes for Mature Women

Hey friends! Today a few of my blogger friends and I are bringing you our favorite styles relating to fitness and working out. We have searched for the best fit, styles, and most functional workout clothes for mature women in and out of the gym! Make sure you pop on over to see these girls choices!

I’m not going to lie. I am a workout clothes snob. If it doesn’t fit correctly, I’m not going to wear it! I’m simply not here for that. So I am bringing you my very BEST workout clothes for mature women.

Also, let’s not kid ourselves here. I wear them outside of the gym more than I do inside the gym. So, my fitness/errand-running gear has to be comfortable and good quality.

Let’s start with tees. I love a good t-shirt during the fall and winter months. I only have about 3 of them, but I wear them weekly! My ultimate favorite brand for workouts is Athleta and Nike. They are my go-to when I need to replace, or just want something new to add to my collection.

For my t-shirts I want them to be long and not to clingy around the middle. UGH. Both of those are tough to find, but this Momentum tee is the perfect choice! It comes in multiple colors and the material is breathable. It runs true to size I’d say. I sized up one in this tee to make sure it didn’t fit too snuggly around the tummy area. (I’m currently paying for not getting to the gym over the last 9 months!). These tees are an absolute favorite of mine and a must-have for best workout clothes for mature women!

I have linked several other tees that I either own or have great reviews below!

Next we have workout tanks. I generally love a great racerback tank. Again, it needs to be long and not clingy around the waist area! This Momentum tank comes in so many fabulous colors, and the material is breathable and soft against the skin.

I would say this tank runs true to size. Again, I sized up one size due to the ‘muffin top’ issue. I’m wearing a size medium here, but think maybe the small would have been more fitted look. The slightly larger fit is ok with me.

As I said before, these comfy tanks are a go-to for the best workout clothes for mature women.

The Perfect Workout Tanks!

If you are looking for some other options when it comes to workout tanks, I have linked more below!

The sports bra. Enough said. I have had such a hard time finding the BEST bra for workouts. Also, I’ve noticed as I’m getting older, things seem to be hanging down more. Gravity has truly taken over!

That being said, I am not full figured. I generally have opted for light support. However, recently I have been buying my sports bras with at least medium support. I don’t want the girls to be sagging down to my knees. Not a great look.

These sports bras from Athleta are amazing. They don’t pinch around the arms or waistband, and give full support! They all have removable pads too. (I keep mine in. Just personal preference.)

I’ve linked my favorite sports bras for mature women below.

You’re going to want these leggings!

Let’s talk leggings.

I’m a 7/8 inch leggings gal. During the winter, if it’s really cold, I might pull on a full length pair, and during the summer I also wear cropped. But usually opt for the 7/8 inch style.

Also, I’ve noticed I’m tending to buy the high waisted styles due to the comfort and support. This style also tends to minimize the ‘muffin top’ issue as well. However, it’s totally a preference thing.

These Spanx I wear as an everyday option. I don’t wear them to the gym simply because I want to keep them in good condition for daily wear. However, I wanted to include them in this post, because they fit great and are so comfortable. No pinching or sliding down! I have them in this seamless grey camo, the faux leather, and a denim.

The leggings I’m wearing in all the other pictures in this post are the Rainier leggings, or the Ultimate leggings. I love them both equally. The Rainier is slightly heavier weight. I wear them mostly in the winter. the Ultimate is a buttery soft, lightweight material I will wear year-round.

I highly recommend all of these I’ve linked below!

All the Accessories!

Fanny pack | Momentum Tee | Rainier Leggings | Nike Shoes

Generally, I wear this fanny pack when I go to the gym. It is small and lightweight. I can easily set it on the treadmill or next to the wall beside me in a class. Lately, I’ve been carrying my extra mask, lip balm, earbuds, keys, and my phone in it. Easy Peasy.

However, if I want to shower, or need a change of clothes etc, I will take my backpack. I love the one I have from Simple Modern. It is slim and lightweight. Large enough I can fit everything I need in it, but not bulky.

I am linking all of my favorite accessories below.

Jackets and Athletic Shoes

Let me restate. I am an athletic shoe snob. I generally wear Nike for my workouts. (99.9% of the time) I’ve worn other brands, but always come back to Nike. So, all of my picks for the best workout clothing (and gear) for mature women include all these shoes from Nike.

The type of activity you are involved in matters greatly. I have two catergories of athletic shoes. One for cardio and one for strength and conditioning. Also, I change them out every 3-6 months depending on how often they are used.

NOTE: In order to preserve and guard your joints, particularly your hips, knees, ankles and joints in your feet, change out your athletic shoes every 3 months. I can’t stress this enough! Proper fit and padding can save a lot of pain and money later. This is an area where you don’t want to pinch pennies.

Nike Shoes | Puffy Jacket | Ultimate Tee | Rainier Leggings

The Nike brand can be somewhat pricey. However, they also have styles that are same quality and look as their more expensive ‘new arrivals.’ The one’s pictured here are around $65. I’ve seen them for less than $50.

I’m linking a few styles here. They vary in price.

Finally, since it’s chilly outside… especially after being at the gym, I’ve included some fabulous jackets! I love to layer my looks, even at the gym. Mostly, I hate to be cold!

I might have included a few cute beanies for their cozy factor! Check it all out below!

Hopefully, you have found this post helpful. If you have ideas, questions or valuable info to share with us, please comment below! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Happy shopping everyone!
