I simply LOVE spring and summer dresses. Specifically, I love these two styles of dresses year round! The shirtdress and the fit and flare styles are universally flattering on all body types. So, I thought these two looks would be great to feature on today’s post! It’s spring, and I’m out searching for some beautiful dress options.
Secondly, I’m obsessed with these neutral shades. The blues, tans, creams and whites are all so dreamy. You’ll see me repeating this color theme throughout the year! You can be assured it always creates a chic and elegant look.
Finally, I wanted to help you narrow down your dress shopping efforts. If you know the styles or cut of dress that work for your body shape, it streamlines the process. You can try shopping for that style first and see what you can find. Of course, go ahead and experiment with other styles along the way, but if you’re in a pinch for time, stick with what you know works!

The Shirtdress
The shirtdress is a style that everyone can wear! I’m crushing on the shades of blue, tan and cream is this beauty from Ann Taylor. It buttons half way down the front, has side vents, puffed sleeves and a removable tie waist. Also, it is fully lined. I’ve also added an oversized tan blazer, nude wedges, and creamy woven clutch/crossbody bag.
Sizing: I have found that Ann Taylor’s clothing seem to have a generous fit. (which I like) This dress is roomy. It runs true to size. You can remove the tie around the waist and wear the dress without it for a flowy look.
These dresses are selling out fast. I am linking other shirtdress options below. I’ll let you know if Ann Taylor does a restock soon.
The Fit and Flare
The second style that looks great on everyone is the classic fit and flare. The natural hourglass shape is feminine and creates definition which is lovely on all body types. This polka dot goodness is what my dreams are made of! The dress is sleeveless, zips up the back and has a natural waistline. I have added a nude belt from my closet. The pleated skirt is everything here. This style is currently having a moment! I’ve added the tan oversized blazer (a closet must-have), nude wedges, woven bag and the chic string of pearls. Perfection.
Sizing: The dress runs true to size. (Actually, a bit roomy.) The blazer is oversized. I’m wearing a small here. Both the dress and blazer are fully lined. The blazer comes in several colors and is under $40.

Polished Casual Style
This last look stays firmly in the neutral category with the tan double breasted blazer, fitted white tank, and FABULOUS utility wide leg jeans. I’ve added a nude platform heel, gold chain necklaces, and woven clutch/crossbody bag. I simply love this style.
Sizing: The white tank is fitted. Size up for a roomier fit. These jeans are very stretchy and long! They run true to size.
The Icing on the Cake
If you only get one new bag this season, this is it! It is a crossbody convertible bag. Remove the adjustable strap for a clutch style bag. (2 in 1 = LOVE) The woven pattern gives this purse some visual interest when paired with any outfit. It is large enough to carry a phone, lipstick, keys, and wallet. And comes in lots of colors.
I’ve tried to include a variety of neutral shoes here. I love a heel, but I know that not everyone can wear them. So, this small block heel is very comfortable and not too high! All of the shoes are currently on sale under $50.
I hope you love these looks as much as I do, and I’ve linked plenty of options!
