Since fall is just around the corner I know that the season will bring another round of weddings or special events to attend. So, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some lovely dresses for these occasions!
After being mother of the groom in July I can see the value in renting a gown or designer dress for some of the activities associated with such events. I love the gown I chose for my son’s wedding, but the odds that I will ever wear it again are very slim. So it sits in my closet taking up space. Also, it was altered so selling it, probably isn’t going to happen either.
So when Rent the Runway approached me about doing a collaboration with them, I jumped at the opportunity. So many of us midlife women would benefit from having access to designer clothing that we can essentially check out, wear and return. Truly, it’s as easy as that.
They have clothing options for casual, workwear, special occasion and more. Also, many of the styles come in extended sizing, such as petite. Furthermore, they have designer handbags, sunglasses, and jewelry.
There are lots of ways to rent from this brand, but right now I have a 30% discount code for a one time rental. My discount is: RTRCINDYH
⭐️How it works:
1. Choose your outfit and have it delivered a couple of days before the event. (4 or 8 day rental.)
2. Style and wear your items! They even offer a free back-up size for one item, just in case!
3. Return your items. When the rental period is up, place your items in the garment bag they came in and send them back using the prepaid shipping label!
It truly is that easy.
One Shoulder Shimmer
This dress caught my eye right away. I love the one shoulder style, and the faux wrap skirt with ruching around the waist. This style dress looks great on most body shapes! I highly recommend.
It’s really lightweight, shimmery metallic fabric is stretchy and comfortable. It runs true to size, and I am wearing my normal dress size here.
I can see this as a great option for a mother of the bride or groom dress.
Burgundy Mini Dress
Oh, I love the color of this dress. The deep jewel tone is so warm and romantic. I love the small ruffled neck, and smocking around the cuffs. Also, you can’t see it here but it has a bow tie at the neck in the back that hangs down. Finally, it has pockets too.
This dress is a fabulous party dress. Add drop earrings, a cute bag and strappy heels, and your ready to go! I believe it is the least formal of the 4 dresses I’m styling here.
I’m wearing my regular dress size in this stye. It is very roomy, and is just the right length. I’d love to wear a belt, to add a little definition at the waist, but I think it would be too short for me. However, I love the flowy nature of this look.
Sequin Sheath Dress
Dress the Population is known for their trendy and elegantly chic styles. And this navy and black sequin dress doesn’t disappoint! It has cap sleeves, a deep v-neckline, and zips up the back. I was a little worried it would be uncomfortable due to the sequins, however it actually was very stretchy and not as scratchy as I had imagined.
This would be a great event dress. I wouldn’t rule it out for mother of the bride or groom dress either. The sequins really steal the show!
I am wearing my regular dress size here, and I mentioned before it does have some stretch to it. The fit is snug though. ( I think it’s supposed to hug your curves.). By the way, I am wearing a strapless bra with dress #1 and this dress. I love this dress and would highly recommend it.
Floral Maxi Dress
This floral maxi dress with all the tiers is a favorite too! It has a very deep v-neckline and ruching at the waist. It is really gorgeous on, however it was simply too large for me. Also, the plunging neckline isn’t the best look on me either, so I had to pass on this one.
If you are curvy and don’t mind a deep v-neck this is the dress for you! I believe a little fashion tape would most likely hold everything in place without a wardrobe malfunction.
It is black with creamy white flowers, zips up the back. It is a true maxi dress that hit the floor.
Lastly, one of the things I like about Rent the Runways is that they have lots of reviews on each piece of clothing, and people have uploaded their pictures. So it is easy to figure out what size you think will fit you best. But just in case you’re not sure, or you HAVE TO have the garment fit for an event, Rent the Runway offers an additional piece, for free, that is a backup size. I love this!
Also, I also was told that a lot of people will order the same style in different sizes to ensure they get the perfect fit for a special occasion. I think that’s smart!
Rent the Runway has been a great experience for me. I would recommend it for anyone who loves fashion, or designer fashion and accessories. It’s a fun way to try upscale fashion without a lot of commitment! If you end up not loving an item, you send it back, and no love is lost! Or, Rent the Runway also give you the option to buy the piece(s) at a discounted price. I was shocked how many people said they bought a piece or had rented the same piece(s) several times.
Don’t forget I have a discount code!
