Trendy Women’s Suits

Matching blazer and pants suits are all the rage this season! I’m sure you’ve seen them in all the colors of the rainbow, too. Trendy women’s suits are making a big-time come back this year, and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon, either.

For the summer season, your going to see lots of suits in linen, and paired with either pants or matching linen shorts. Personally, I’m a fan of both! I love linen, and think all the fun colors are refreshing. And I know I’ve said it before, but even though it gets super hot and humid here in Houston, it’s always nice to have a blazer to layer over any outfit.

I suppose that it’s safe to say that no matter if you style the ‘suit’ pieces together or separately, it is here to stay! A true wardrobe must-have for the season.

Styled as a matching suit set.

Comfy. That is the word I’d use to describe this suit when I first tried it on. The double breasted blazer is linen and and fully lined. It runs oversized, so I sized down one size. These pants are linen as well, and are very generous in their fit, so I sized down in them as well. They also have an elastic band at the waist in the back. The wide leg are flowy, and hit right at the floor. Because these pants are super wide, length matters! So make sure to order a petite or tall if you are in one of those categories!

Also, when styling a suit it’s good to remember the rule of proportions. If your top layer and bottom layer are oversized, as they are here, pick a fitted base top to balance out the outfit. So, if I had styled this suit with an oversized button up shirt, it would have looked like I’d be swallowed by the suit. It would simply be too much fabric.

For a basic top I choose this halter tank top. However, you could style it with a bodysuit, or fitted tee or shirt.

Suit set styled separately.

Next I’ve styled the suit separately. It’s so nice to be able to get multiple outfits out of a couple of pieces, so don’t be afraid to wear just one piece or the other. Also, the trend is to dress up or dress down the suit. I know it’s out of my comfort zone to style these pieces with such casual sandals, shorts, or tees, but it’s fun to think outside of the box when it comes to the suit.

Below I’ve styled the trousers with a fitted halter tank, and swapped out my heels for a pair of platform chunky slides. I added a casual crossbody bag, but I was going to use my black athletic belt bag (fanny pack) instead. However, I let it at home, and happened to have this crossbody in my car. 😬. But you get the idea.

*Pro Tip* Add a flowy linen button up shirt over this look for that ‘coastal grandma’ vibe.

Finally, I know I featured this outfit in my last blog post, but it’s a great example of taking the linen blazer and adding it to a very casual outfit. It works.

*Pro Tip* I generally roll and push up the sleeves on my blazers. It doesn’t matter if I’m in heels or sneakers.. it gives that ‘I own this’ vibe to the outfit…. A lived in feeling.

Below I’m wearing denim shorts and a graphic tee, but lots of suits come with a matching linen shorts option that are so chic! Simply another way to style the blazer that gives it a relaxed, but polished look.
