Today’s post continues on with my ‘Mother of the Bride or Groom’ series. Right now I’m on the hunt for mother of the bride or groom rehearsal dinner dresses, and I’ve found some fabulous ones at White House Black Market.
Attire for the rehearsal dinner totally depends on the venue. In our case, we are hosting the rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding at a trendy restaurant close to our hotel. So we have chosen a semi formal dress code.
I think that any of the dresses here would be appropriate for the mother of the bride or groom! They are all stunning, midi and maxi length dresses. And it’s so fun to find looks with some of this season’s bold colors like this first green floral dress or even the lavender midi. I don’t feel that anyone should have to feel obligated to wear any certain color or style to this particular event unless specified by the hosts. Our main objective is to celebrate the upcoming nuptials, visit with family and friends, and feel comfortable during the evening.
Of course, there were lots of options in the store, but I only had limited time to try-on dresses, so I have linked some other beautiful WHBM dresses at the bottom you might love too! The only restriction I made related to the dresses is that it not be white with respect to the bride.
Floral Green Maxi
This satin fit and flare dress is a stunner. I love the ring detail at the shoulder as well as the v-neck. The tie waist insert give the waistline definition, and the long ruffle at the bottom is fun and flirty.
This dress is fully lined and zips up the back. I’d say it runs true to size. I’m wearing my normal dress size 6 here.
Butterfly Halter Dress with Pleated Skirt
Next is this butterfly inspired halter dress with a pleated skirt. You can’t see it in the photo, but the fabric also has gold and silver specks in it. I’m always a fan of the halter style because it is such a feminine design with the exposed shoulders. The smocked elastic waistline gives this dress a comfortable fit and flare look. Lastly, don’t miss the uneven hemline here! The entire
This dress runs true to size. I am wearing my normal dress size here.
Elegant Lace Fit and Flare
This next look is simple and chic. The lace here is super soft and absolutely gorgeous! I’m loving the muted blue, high neckline, and scalloped hemline which adds to the feminine style.
This dress is fully lined and small. I sized up one size in order for it to not be too fitted. I would probably wear some shapewear for the tummy with this dress.
Faux Wrap Halter Maxi Dress with Pleated Skirt
Next up is this show stopper! The black and white with a pop of yellow lend itself to a vibrant pattern. A fitted bodice and flowy, pleated skirt gives this a polished look.
This dress zips up the back, and has a tie waist. It runs slightly large, so I sized down one size here. However, if you are full busted I’d recommend sticking with your normal dress size.
Lavender Sleeveless Midi
Finally, there is this lavender dress that I didn’t think I’d like, but I was wrong! I feel like this soft purple shade brightens up the complexion, and screams summertime. The ruching at the shoulders and fullness of the top are cinched together at the empire waistline with a faux tie. The whole look is very romantic!
This dress comes in several colors, and runs true to size. I’m wearing my normal dress size here.
