Today I’m featuring some summer basics that will keep you cool and current this season! And as you will soon notice, I have a ‘blue’ theme going on here. Y’all know it’s one of my favorite colors and it is a summertime essential in my closet.
I also wanted to add a few new accessories to my wardrobe so I’m spotlighting these FABULOUS navy blue pieces. The earrings are a hammered gold and blue, the lapis pendant necklace is navy blue with leather, and the multi-strand bracelet is also made up of blue beads. I just feel like I will wear these pieces all summer and into fall.
Kimono Love
The older I get the more I want/need a little something covering my upper arms. This short kimono is just the piece to provide a little coverage, and warmth. Since I’m not one to wear a lot of patterned clothing, it’s fun to mix it up a little with a kimono! They are the perfect piece for summer because they are lightweight and come in fun patterns and an array of colors.
I’ve styled this outfit with white denim shorts, but if you’re not the shorts wearing sort, you can easily switch out the shorts for some white denim, linen pants, or a lightweight chino. Easy peasy! I’ve linked some options below.
Everything featured runs true to size.
Blue and White Linen Button Down Shirt
Next, nothing says summertime like a linen button down shirt. This one is slightly oversized, and very soft. I sized down one size, but I think I would like my regular size better since linen isn’t very stretchy. Also, this style shirt comes in several different colors!
Accessories
For some reason, I gravitate to hoops, and the larger the better! So, when I saw these blue lapis hoops, I knew I’d wear them all the time. This style hoop comes in a couple of different colors. All of them giving off those summer vibes!
The blue bracelet is slightly stretchy and has a clasp closure. Also, I’ve been wanting these all weather gold bangles for ages! They have been super popular for several years now, and I think will be fun to wear at the pool!
Ruffled Sleeve T-Shirt Dress
I’m linking several of these t-shirt dresses because I’m a huge fan! Anything cotton, lightweight and stretchy is my best friend during the summer. Then, when you add the ruffled sleeve, I’m in heaven! This particular dress hit below the knee and has a small side slit. It also comes in a few colors. I did size up to a medium so it would be loose, not clingy. However, I think the small would have worked as well. But if you want a roomy fit size up one.
If you’d like a little definition at the waist, simply tie a shirt, denim jacket, or sweatshirt around your middle and you’re good to go!
Let’s talk about the sports sandals. I’m not a fan. Or… I wasn’t a fan until I tried them on. They are like walking on air! Super comfortable. I can totally see why people love this style sandal. So, I guess I am a hippy dippy do as my friend, Lisa, would say!š
The straw bucket hat. Actually, anything straw is a personal favorite. It simply says summertime to me. This particular style is kinda fun because it gives off that safari vibe… or tourist look.
I’m also giving you a close-up look at the sports sandals below! I’d love to hear your thoughts about them. You won’t hurt my feelings, because I didn’t like them at first either!
Navy Blue Gauzy Romper
Two pieces in one! What a deal! And this gauzy romper is so soft and comfortable. It comes in several different colors, too. I sized up to a medium for length in the torso, however I think the small would have been just fine. The only thing I don’t like about a romper is that they are sometimes a challenge to get on and off. This one has a tie neck and a couple of buttons on the front and an elastic waistband to help with easy access. Also, the shorts are lined, and have deep pockets.
